Unfortunately due to illness our scheduled speaker, Dr David Gavine, was unable to appear. We wish him well and hope to see him very soon. In his place we were fortunate to have Bill Samson and Ken Kennedy and we thank them both for their very interesting discussions.
First Bill discussed how to navigate the skies using star hopping which led on to a brief discussion on asterisms and constellation which bill should have included in his talk and stars names in general, their origins and meanings in various ancient languages - which was all Greek to me!
Bill's talk … … and discussion
Ken discussed how photography, in particular his astro imaging, has progressed through the years since he began in his mid teens, to todays modern cameras, telescopes and imaging software. He illustrated his talk with images demonstrating how imaging has improved throughout the years.
Tony supplied the refreshments following the talks and we welcomed two visitors who enjoyed the evening and we hope to see again in the future.
Thanks to all who contributed to this great evening.
Please not that our next and final meeting is the AGM and is open only to members. Thanks.
